A girl dressing by the water. Perhaps she has just finished bathing. The sun catches her body and highlights its contours. In the footsteps of Degas artists have endeavoured to catch the beauty of a semi nude woman dressing. This painting was commissioned by the subject Christine who is a lovely French Canadian lady living in Quebec. She contacted me by email after seeing some of my nudes in a web gallery and asked me to do a nude of her from photos. We had a few communication problems as she is French speaking and my French is somewhat limited. However, we worked it all out and we were both very happy with the result. In the photo she was wearing a black fur jacket ....

The beach house at the end of summer and a lonely girl...................."My framer Charles loves this painting and enhanced it with one of his most elegant hand made frames. There was a period in Lucian Freud's development of nudes when he passed from exaggerated large eyed magnificent people to rich rugged nudes carved out of paint with explicit genitalia. During this time he painted lovely slightly wide eyed nudes in very high key with compressed darks which inspired this painting."
