The Eastern Hills art studios
The Eastern Hills is a unique part of the Darling Ranges. It is surrounded by lovely bush and small villages established 100 years ago for the felling and milling of timber.
It is a place of history with the early settlements of Sawyers Valley and the sawmills of Mount Helena, serviced by the old railway line tracks. Lovely Lake Leschenaultia was built to provide water for the steam trains.
The Golden Pipeline bringing water from Mundaring Weir to the gold town of Kalgoorlie passes through the Eastern Hills
It is one of the highest places in the ranges with Mount Helena about 1,000 feet above sea level.
The Eastern Hills is also a place where artists and craftspeople live. We are members of the Mundaring Hills Open Studios but our place is different from the wealthy areas of the escarpment and the western part of the Shire.
In this section of my website, I want to show you where these artists live and tell you about some of the interesting places to visit during your trip to the Eastern Hills.
It will take me some time to put all this together so please bookmark this page and come back before the MHOS weekend what else there is to discover
