#1104 'Love dust'

#1104 'Love dust'

Like so many of my paintings this simply emerged as the painting took over and made itself. People have suggested all sorts of deep meanings to it, but I don't know what they are. For me its about shapes, colour, ambiguity, romanticism and poetry

#1095 'First catch your man'

#1095 'First catch your man'

#1093 'The Driller'

#1093 'The Driller'

I had an old landscape painting. I wasn't happy with it, so I painted over it. The underpainting and my imagination came up with this. It seemed to be a drilling rig a scene I am very familiar with after my years working as a geologist. So I made it 'The Driller'

#1084 'Full moon rising El Questro'

#1084 'Full moon rising El Questro'

A long time ago there were those who camped by a clear watered babbling stream lost in the bush in El Questro of the Kimberley. In the evening they would climb the hillside and stand looking down on the cobbled river in the valley far below. The moon would rise and they would toast the Kimberley in wine. The birds squawked and the animals rustled in the leaves. The time passed, the landscape remained but the people had gone.

#1070 'Cloud Street Geraldton seagul

This is part of a series of paintings inspired by Tim Winton's wonderful book 'Cloud Street' This is about Geraldton in the chapter 'The Shifty Shadow is Lurking' "Rose Pickles knew something bad was going to happen. Something really bad, this time. She itched in her awful woollen bathing suit and watched her brothers and a whole mob of other kids chucking bombies off the end of the jetty in the bronze evening light. #1069 'Cloud Street - The Diviner'

This is part of a series of paintings inspired by Tim Winton's wonderful book 'Cloud Street' This is from the chapter 'The Shifty Shadow is Lurking'. "Sam's father Merve had been a water diviner. He went round all his life with a forked stick and a piece of fence wire, and when he was sober he found water and fed the family on the proceeds. He was a soft, sentimental sort of man, and he never beat Sam. The boy went with him sometimes to watch that stick quiver .....

#1075 'Lovers at Python Pool'

#1075 'Lovers at Python Pool'

Several year's ago I was painting at Python Pool in the Pilbara region on NW Australia. It was dusk and when I arrived at the pool there was a couple swimming in the water. As I worked they seemed to stay in for a long time and it was only when the man ran naked from the water that I realised that they were "skinny dipping" a pastime that many people indulge in when swimming in the magic pools of the outback. He picked up a towel and used it to shield his girlfriend from my view .......

#1059 'The flower arranger'

#1059 'The flower arranger'

From the "Fat Lady' series this painting is in Winsor and Newton Artists Alkyd oil paint on Arches cotton rag paper. The 'Fat Lady' series is a whimsical commentary on relations between the sexes with ambiguous undercurrents. She has a caring love hate relationship with her little men. Here they are her flowers carefully tended and greatly loved but we can see that some have wilted away.

#0868 'The endless dance'

#0868 'The endless dance'

Comments by other artists made in web critique group "certainly vibrant, got a chagall feel to it,.... love her transparent dress" "Hi, Jeremy! Very interesting composition. Two figures as set rotation on the left, but the greater skirt of the girl is counteraction and displaces movement clockwise downwards. The unbalance of a picture gives to it dynamics. ..Rgds! Vladimir." "Another great piece, Jeremy ... has delightful energy and I like the moon and stars as an analog for the interior."

#0876 'Dancing in the dark'

#0876 'Dancing in the dark'

Comments by other artists made in web critique group "The color combnation here works wonderfully and is well balanced. I'm not sure what to think though..it looks like they are dancing and that is what youtitle implies, but it looks like alot more is going on to me. For some reason it looks a little crazy or chaotic. I think I mught be getting that from their expressions and how they look like they are flailing about rather than dancing. I also like the dogs that you added in.

#0867 'The big wave'

#0867 'The big wave'

omments by other artists made in web critique group "Hi Jeremy. Nice work! I love your palette. ... I'm a big fan of your paintings." "i am enjoying this style of yours jeremy, its vibrant and fun. what a hero - saving two girls from the ever hovering angels :)" "Impressive color. The girls are so acrobat like I find it quite humourous while the man rushes them out of the way. The angel surfacing is effective to tell the story. .... That wave is great and full of so much interest. Bye, N

#0858 'Queen of the Kimberley'

Comments by other artists made in web critique group "Very neat painting..LOVE the colors...but i am a color freak what can i say...I love the background and the composition of it. I have always liked your work." "Very beautiful composition, Jeremy. I like this technique and the strong colours. The woman's shape remembers to me the figures of Botero's women, but I don't know if is intentional. #0861 'The Poppy Grower'

#0861 'The Poppy Grower'

Comments by other artists made in web critique group "I love your earth mother/gardener/sex goddess/temptress Jeremy. Love how you opened her dress all the way down the front and made me think of fertilisation and ripening and role reversal. Love the red of the earth and the red of her dress and how the flora entangles itself in the print of the fabric and how the men/plants wait expectantly at her feet:-) I enjoy the way you put the paint on the canvas - it brings me to Vuillard and Bonnard
