Artist/Gallery notes
GALLERY: One of a series of paintings in oil on canvas in an almost square format painted after his visit to the Eastern States of Australia, this painting has a limited tonal range but an interplay of colour. The central area around the house is a rich complexity of patterns of colour strokes forming a single zone surrounded by other zones of pattern in lighter tones a bit like a Bonnard landscape. Richness pervades all. ARTIST "I painted this after visiting the Monet exhibition and I must admit that I had in mind the wonderful hay stack paintings. Somehow Monet manages to have different areas of interacting colour each contrasting with one another. It may not be Monet but at least it’s a home grown version and significantly cheaper!"
