Artist/Gallery notes
Perth, in Western Australia, is built on the banks of the wide estuary of the Swan River. It seems that everybody in Perth messes around in boats. The Californian climate with long hot dry summers and mild wet winters is ideal for boating both on the river estuary and on the Indian Ocean. In summer a thirty knot sea breeze comes in every afternoon to provide exciting racing on this river. However, in the evening the wind dies down to those warm still nights that make summer in Perth so lovely. When the sun has set, but it is not yet dark, everything is silent except for the ripples of the river lapping on the sandy shore. Then there is one moment when a spirit passes through the land before the night settles in. This is that moment.
