Perth, in Western Australia, is built on the banks of the wide estuary of the Swan River. This painting is of the boatsheds of the Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club in the exclusive and very beautiful area of Peppermint Grove. This view is frequently painted by artists and in this painting I tried to capture the chaos and scintillating colours of a hot Australian summer.
